Following the August “Mindful Educators Retreat”, there is a further programme available to deepen our mindfulness practice over a more sustained period. This comprises of three weekend residential retreats with continuity maintained through monthly group calls. This extended programme provides a unique opportunity for educators who would like to work together in a supportive environment, developing mindfulness initiatives for schools and youth work.
Drawing on the support of the group, we will reflect on and develop our ideas about bringing mindfulness into education. Participants may be developing mindfulness for themselves and their classrooms, practicing with colleagues, or taking part in larger scale initiatives. As well as daily training and experience in mindfulness techniques, the course includes journalling, an online discussion group, and recommended study materials. Key objectives are to help participants deepen and develop their own personal mindfulness practice, to offer practical support and advice in implementing initiatives and to provide opportunities to share experiences and to learn from one another.
This secular programme is affiliated to the Wake Up Schools initiative, originating from the Plum Village Mindfulness Practice Centre, led by Thich Nhat Hanh. Previous experience from other mindfulness traditions and programmes is welcomed. Successful completion will result in Wake Up Schools Stage 2 certification. Led by experienced facilitators from within both the mindfulness and education arenas, Miles Dunmore and Michael Schwammberger. Weekend Dates: 3-5 October, 12-14 December, 6-8 February. Book Now
