New Hamlet - Plum Village

Following on to the success of the first Cooking in Mindfulness retreat last year, the sisters of the New Hamlet invite you to join us for a retreat from 31 May to 7 June. Learn how to cook Vietnamese cuisine, Plum Village-style, with mindfulness and joy.

This second retreat is to respond to the requests of many friends who have been to New Hamlet and enjoyed the first retreat so much, as well as from those who missed out the first one.

Together we’ll learn how to practice mindfulness while cooking and preparing food; how to cultivate healthy eating habits, as well as cultivating joy as nourishment, both for our selves and our loved ones.

This week-long retreat is based on the requests of many friends who have been to New Hamlet and have enjoyed the meals so much that they are inspired to become vegetarians or vegan after their retreat.

You will be shown step by step how to prepare some popular Vietnamese dishes that are much loved at New Hamlet. You will have a chance to practice sitting meditation, walking meditation, eating in silence, doing exercises, listening to Dharma talks, practicing noble silence, sharing in families, and learning the art of mindful cooking.

14:00 Total relaxation

Main languages: English and Vietnamese, with translation to French whenever needed. Everyone is welcome to join, particularly those who love cooking, eating, and practicing mindfulness in their daily life.
Please note: The week 31 May – 7 June is a special week in Plum Village. New Hamlet will be hosting this joyful mindful cooking retreat, and Upper Hamlet and Lower Hamlet will host the International Business Retreat. Please note that these are two distinct retreats, in separate hamlets, with no shared activities.
