A day of mindfulness is a wonderful opportunity to be able to devote ourselves to mindful living in its many aspects. We begin the day by listening to a guided meditation which helps us to leave behind the hustle and bustle of the outside world and come back to take care of ourselves.

We shall then listen to the chanting of the monks and nuns who have been trained to chant in such a way that helps us to give rise to compassion for ourselves and for those we love. After that we have a Dharma talk. A Dharma talk is to help us touch levels of our consciousness that we may never have touched. It can be compared to a piece of music more than to a university lecture. We allow the words to penetrate us without using our intellect to agree or not agree with what is being said. Then we shall practise walking meditation together. This wonderful practice of arriving in every step which will be most useful for us in our life at home in order to be in touch with the wonders of nature or to calm ourselves when we are in a difficult situation.

If the weather is fine we shall sit outside on the lawn to enjoy mindful eating in silence: a chance to feel deep gratitude for the food we have to eat and the friends who are with us. After lunch we shall be guided in total relaxation and then have a chance to ask our questions of senior monks and nuns.
