Eating can be a deep practice of mindfulness. When we eat with awareness, we see that each bite contains the whole cosmos: the sun, the rain, the earth and the hard work of many people. Eating in this way nourishes not only the body, but also our joy and our gratitude.

In this course, we’ll explore mindful eating through short teachings, guided practices, and simple exercises you can bring to every meal.

What you’ll explore

You’ll learn how to:

  • Arrive at the table and let go of rushing
  • Look deeply at your food with gratitude
  • Chew slowly and really taste what you eat
  • Notice hunger, fullness and what truly nourishes you
  • Enjoy eating together in silence and in conversation
  • Bring mindfulness to cooking, shopping and snacking

Continue your practice

For the next seven days, choose one meal each day to eat mindfully. It can be as short as the first three bites.

There is no need to eat perfectly. Simply notice when your mind has wandered, come back to your food, and enjoy the next bite.
