On the mountaintop, Thay teaches his students about the Noble Eightfold Path, which includes: right view, right livelihood, right speech, right mindfulness, right thinking, right concentration, right diligence. Thay reminds them about the Sutra on the Full Awareness of Breathing and the contemplation of feelings. Thich Nhat Hanh advises practicing the contemplation of minor emotions to prepare for stronger emotions, using breathing, body posture, walking meditation, and the sangha. He emphasizes building the sangha little by little, like accumulating gold. In daily life, every word and action contributes to building the sangha. He also speaks about the 51 mental formations, including wholesome, unwholesome, and special ones, and how to take care of and transform emotions with mindfulness. He stresses the deep understanding of the nature of perception and imagination to achieve wisdom, seeing, and attaining the path. He tells a story about happiness and suffering, emphasizing seeing through the nature of perception. He encourages practicing walking meditation, eating in silence, living mindfully, and building a strong sangha community. He also shares about taking Magnesium to support the body and emphasizes the importance of faith and concentrated spirit in practice.
