Dharma Talk – Prajñā, Going Forth (1)
Ordaining as a monastic means leaving behind the house of the world, carrying with you a vast and noble aspiration, stepping into freedom, overcoming the bonds of fame, wealth, and sensual pleasures in order to study and practice, and to help transform the world.
The worldly house is a place filled with entanglements, while the “house of the Tathagata” is a spiritual home, where there are precepts, a Sangha, Dharma doors of practice, and a brotherhood filled with harmony.
To recognize the true path of monastic life, one must observe with one’s own wisdom, not listen to rumors, and ask practical questions:
- Is the teacher a true teacher? Is the Sangha a true Sangha?
- Is there peace, happiness, freedom, and liberation growing day by day?
The four powerful words “phát túc siêu phương” (stepping into freedom) awaken the beginner’s mind and the spirit of a hero, a courageous warrior who dares to break through, always keeping a sense of curiosity, the need to understand and to love, so that freedom, understanding, and love are transformed and grow every day.
