A 25-year-old nun who ordained at the age of 16 expresses her fear when she discovers feelings for a nearby monk, feeling empty and afraid of losing her monastic ideal. The path of practice encourages loving without attachment, by practicing the Four Immeasurable Minds to maintain the ideal and nourish peace in the heart with a boundless heart—a great love for all beings. Practicing the Four Immeasurable Minds helps us embrace everyone, transcend personal boundaries so that we do not seek happiness outside ourselves.

Building a sangha is the foundation for a meaningful monastic life, protecting and supporting practitioners from afflictions and suffering. A true practicing community helps us:

  • practice sincere communication with teachers and brothers and sisters
  • strengthen solidity and ease through mindfulness trainings and precepts
  • share happiness through mindful breathing, mindful steps
  • protect true freedom, limiting personal entanglements
Always take refuge in the sangha to transform suffering, develop compassion and wisdom, and create the credibility to accomplish great works of the Buddha.
