Thich Nhat Hanh · September 3, 1997 · Santa Barbara, United States
Feedback

Thay teaches the children interconnectedness, mindfulness and nondiscrimination through the example of looking deeply into their hands. He continues with describing the practice of mindful breathing and sitting meditation. We learn that paradise, the Kingdom of God, the Pure Land, is available to us in the present moment. We can discover the wonders of life by looking deeply. He teaches how to embrace our painful feelings and strong emotions like anger. We can look deeply and understand ourselves by practicing with our five skandas: form, feelings, perceptions, mental formation and consciousness.

This is the third talk in a series of five given during the Pain, Love and Happiness retreat, in the year 1997. Thay offered this talk at the University of California, Santa Barbara, in the United States.
