The second door of liberation is signlessness, or non-appearance. By learning to see ourselves, others, and nature through the lens of signlessness, we can avoid surprise, despair, and sorrow. When we cling to appearances, we are deceived, as emphasized in the Diamond Sutra.

Our ancestors and parents have changed form but have not disappeared. With the practice of signlessness, we can still connect with them in the present moment. Similarly, our own bodies change over time - if we cling to past appearances, we miss our true essence. Like a cloud transforming into rain, the form changes but nothing is truly lost. By practicing this way of seeing, we transcend despair and sorrow.
