Closing Mindful Meal
As the retreat comes to a close, let us gather to eat in mindfulness with good spiritual friends.
Eating in the historical dimension,
I chew in rhythm with my breath.
How wonderful – we nourish each other.
May I maintain compassion
and help all beings to the other shore.
In Plum Village, we practice not only to be mindful of the food, but also of our spiritual friends sitting with us, whether virtually or in-person. Sharing a meal together is not just to sustain our bodies and celebrate life’s wonders, but also to experience freedom, joy, and the happiness of siblinghood, during the whole time of eating.
