Thay explores the intersection of technology and emotional health, offering specific guidance for the Sangha during the Winter Retreat, encouraging the Sangha to disconnect from email, the Internet, and social media. Thay shares insights from a visit to Google, emphasizing the need for intentional use of technology to support well-being. He addresses how technology can be a force for integration rather than destruction and how work can be a practise of mindfulness. The Four Nutriments and the four aspects of monastic life—study, practice, work, and play—are discussed as integrated elements essential for spiritual growth.
This Talk was given on a Day of Mindfulness just prior to the start of the Winter Retreat in the year 2013. Thay offered this talk at the Upper Hamlet, Plum Village, France.
