Awareness of Body: Children's Part
Thay offers a short orientation, referring them to How to Enjoy Your Time in Plum Village, a booklet that describes how to enjoy sitting, breathing, eating, playing, hugging, and more.
Thầy offers detailed instructions to the children in walking meditation, advising them to match their steps with their breaths using the simple practice of “Yes” and “Thanks.” He encourages them to coordinate their footsteps to the rhythm of their breathing—saying “Yes” (or “Oui”) with the in-breath and “Thanks” (or “Merci”) with the out-breath. He explains that as their breath naturally deepens, they can expand the rhythm to phrases like “Yes, yes. Thanks, thanks, thanks.” Through this practice, he assures the children they will be able to enjoy the wonders of life and receive the nourishment and healing available in the present moment.
This is the first part of the tenth talk in a series of thirteen given during the Summer Opening in the year 2008. Thầy offered this talk at the Upper Hamlet, Plum Village, France.
