Hands Continuing Love
The Dharma door of practice is to live our daily life in such a way that we feel we are in the Pure Land right in the present moment, called the manifest Pure Land or the Pure Land is here and now. Thanks to the practice of mindful breathing and mindful walking, the Pure Land is present right here and right now. According to the teaching of the non-duality of Buddha and living beings of the Linji school, the Buddha and living beings are not two separate realities. Within each person, there is a shining mind; we only need to come back to ourselves and peel away the layers of afflictions, delusion, and anger in order to live in peace and freedom.
Each person has two streams of tradition, two families:
- The blood family: transmitting the genetic heritage, the genes, and the experiences of our ancestors and parents, which are present in every cell of the body.
- The spiritual family: transmitting the capacity to understand, to love, to forgive, and the path leading to complete freedom, overcoming sorrow and suffering.
To transform suffering and generate happiness right in the present moment, the practitioner cultivates three energies:
- Mindfulness (smṛti): coming back to the present moment, recognizing and getting in touch with the shining mind and the seed of love and understanding.
- Concentration (samādhi): the focused attention, concentrating the mind on an object.
- Insight (prajñā): the deep seeing and understanding, which is the foundation for love to arise, expressed through the eyes of compassion (the eyes of love) and loving speech (words of love).
