Buddhism and Psychotherapy: The Art of Mindful Living
Recognize the simplicity of daily acts like eating, walking, and breathing, akin to fastening a seat belt on a plane for safety. Buddhist meditation cultivates the capacity to enjoy peace in the present moment. Recognize joy and happiness to embrace peace, guided by the Sutra of Conscious Breathing. Practice conscious breathing: “Breathing in, I know I am breathing in. Breathing out, I know I am breathing out.” Focus on “in” and “out” silently to anchor attention. Mindfulness connects us to the present, avoiding excessive thinking. Enjoy life’s simple joys, mindful of suffering endured by others. Practice mindfulness in each step, embody Buddhism, joy, and peace. Retreats offer healing and joy, focusing on returning to oneself to connect deeply with others and the world. Practice silence, mindful breathing, and forming a lotus flower with palms. Recognize the Buddha nature within yourself and others. Enjoy each step, practicing mindful breathing: “Eat out, deep, slow. Calm, ease, smile, release.” Calm the body and mind, embracing the present moment fully. Mindfulness of happiness is key to true happiness. Practice compassion to safeguard all life.
