Thầy shares the practice of going home in the Buddhist tradition: “The most wonderful Dharma talk that has ever been offered in Plum Village is, ‘I have arrived, I am home.’” Every mindful step and breath brings you home. Walking meditation and mindfulness has the power to heal and to nourish and helps us get in touch with everything: Mother Earth, Father Sun, our body, feelings, consciousness, our ancestors and the wonders of life. We are not lonely or separate. We are a river, a continuation. Loneliness is an illusion, a wrong perception. You have all your ancestors with you, and all of life.
Thầy reflects on the insights of no-birth, no-death; no being no non-being, and interbeing as our true nature. He speaks of the living Jesus and the living Buddha as having this nature of no-birth and no-death. Jesus and the Buddha continue and manifest in different forms. Our Sangha is a continuation of the Buddha. The way we walk and the way we breathe with the energy of mindfulness, concentration, peace and joy shows that the Buddha is here.
This talk was offered on Christmas Eve during the Christmas and New Year Retreat in the year 2013. Thầy offered this talk at the Upper Hamlet, Plum Village, France.
