The details of this discussion focus on meditation and mindfulness, using the metaphor of a corn seed to illustrate the hidden potential within each of us. By meditating, we recognize the continuity of life and the presence of happiness and suffering linked like the two sides of a leaf. Mindfulness helps to manage suffering and transform negative emotions into positive energy. The text of the “Sutras on the Practice of Conscious Breathing” offers sixteen exercises to stay present and appreciate the wonders of life. Mindfulness allows us to recognize and manage painful sensations, nurture positive seeds such as compassion and joy, and avoid watering negative seeds such as anger and fear. By practicing selective watering, we cultivate peace and happiness in our relationships. Buddhist psychology teaches that nurturing happiness in oneself and in others quickly transforms relationships and brings satisfaction and contentment.
