Developing Strategies for Peace at Home
This title has been reviewed for accuracy.
Beginning with the Heart Sūtra, Thầy then invites us to see deeply into the nature of reality: that everything is impermanent, interwoven, and free of a separate self. Through vivid imagery—like clouds turning into rain and one candle passing its flame to another—he shows how everything is interconnected and constantly changing. A heartfelt role play between parents and children illustrates how mindful communication can heal wounds, bridging generations with deep listening and loving speech.
Thầy concludes by encouraging families to heal by making mindful “peace treaties” before conflicts arise, supported by the collective energy of the Sangha. When we see our loved ones as our continuation and water seeds of understanding instead of anger, we transform suffering into love and create true peace.
This is the third of thirty talks given during the Summer Opening retreats in the year 2002. Thay offered this talk at the Upper Hamlet, Plum Village, France.
