Feedback

The session takes place in the Upper Hamlet during the Winter Retreat on January 9, 2000.

  1. Why does a risk or accident happen to me and not to others, or why am I abused in the family while my siblings are not?
  2. Just as a lotus needs mud to grow, how can a human find the appropriate environment to develop harmoniously and transform suffering?
  3. If someone wrongs me and wants to make peace without acknowledging their actions or making reparations, how far should I go in making peace?
  4. When trying to help someone who is suffering, how can one take care of one’s own needs without causing more suffering or feeling anxious?
  5. How can one identify wholesome elements versus grasping in a relationship with a brother or sister, and practice so as not to feed the feeling of attachment?
  6. How can the practice help one be less egoistic and focused on personal needs, and more sensitive to the needs of others?
  7. How does one respond to the idea that the Middle Way is “lukewarm” or sleepy, when the practice actually makes one feel more awake and alive?
  8. How can a child invite their mother to sit in meditation if her legs hurt, stop her from scolding, and how does one deal with homesickness?
