The Sangha is gathered on February 20, 2000, for the final English Dharma talk concluding the winter retreat. Lay people practicing the Dharma are called upāsaka and upāsikā, meaning those who are close to the monastics, establishing a relationship where each community plays its own role based on the precepts.
- How can one distinguish when it is a good thing to help someone and when helping might disempower them?
- How can a monastic practice the precepts and mindful manners while remaining at one with lay people and not being separated by the robe or the role?
- What is the proper way to ask for permission from family to become a nun, and what should be done if they do not agree?
- How can one approach difficult brothers and sisters in the Dharma and build a Sangha from naturally available circumstances using the art of bricolage?
