In the present moment, we “gather in the past and the future,” because “the one contains the all, time contains space, and vice versa.” Dwelling firmly in this moment is not only standing on the ground beneath our feet, but also feeling “the boundless connection with the entire continent, with the vast expanse of space,” where “to grasp the present moment is to grasp every moment, everywhere.”

Contrary to the psychoanalytic school that seeks to return to the past, the method of Manifestation-Only proposes two paths of transformation for suffering right in the present moment:

  1. Practicing mindfulness, “helps us recognize the seeds of suffering whenever they manifest,” and the light of mindfulness will weaken their power.
  2. Inviting those sufferings to “come up for tea, to converse with, as if inviting an old friend to return,” transforming them into a new source of energy, gentle and peaceful.

Alongside individual practice, the “Sangha” is likened to a spiritual family—where “each member is an indispensable part,” helping one another “when one falls, another lifts them up,” maintaining “dwelling happily in the present moment,” and keeping mindfulness always nourished.
