Food for Body and Mind - Summer Retreat
On July 19, 1993, in Lower Hamlet, embody the peaceful presence of a Buddha by practicing mindfulness and compassion. Reflect on two promises: cultivating understanding for harmonious living and nurturing compassion to safeguard all life forms. In ceremonies, silently acknowledge efforts to uphold promises. Understanding leads to love, compassion arises from understanding, and protecting minerals is part of caring for life. Buddha’s teachings on four types of nourishment—food, sensory impressions, and mental stimuli—highlight mindfulness as a protective force. Recognize toxic influences, create positive environments, and practice mindful touching to heal and transform suffering. Understanding perceptions and practicing mindfulness shields senses and promotes compassion. Embrace Five Precepts for societal transformation and happiness, guided by teachings on nourishment and consciousness.
