This talk details mindfulness practice through listening to the bell, mindful breathing, and walking. The bell guides us to mindfulness, transcending sorrow and anxiety. The practice involves inviting the bell sound, breathing deeply, and focusing on unity of body, peace, and mind. A novice bell master signals with a half sound before the full bell tolls, allowing eight seconds for everyone to prepare. Each bell sound should allow for three inbreaths and outbreaths. Start or end the day with three bell sounds for peace. Mindfulness reveals our interconnectedness with ancestors and the cosmos, freeing us from suffering caused by separation. Walking mindfully helps us be present, saying “I have arrived” and “I am home” with each step, fostering healing and transformation. Repeat the gatha: “I have arrived, I am home. In the here and now, I am solid and free.”
