Letter to the Future: Interbeing in Every Breath
I write to the one who will be born in one hundred or five hundred years to say: freedom is possible, the prison of the ego can be destroyed. You are not a separate entity, you are our continuation; what we think, say, and do today determines the quality of your existence. We are sorry for having produced unjust thoughts, words, and actions that have created suffering and division. Here and now, we commit ourselves to change, to see the nature of interbeing: the other is not our enemy, but a manifestation of the same source, and our peace depends on theirs.
To build this beautiful continuation, deep looking and conscious breathing are essential. Through mindfulness of the breath:
- I breathe in, bringing my full attention to the in-breath,
- I breathe out, bringing my full attention to the out-breath,
I let go of worries, anger, and hatred to rediscover life here and now. This practice:
- brings immediate relief and contact with the wonders of life (the flower, the eye, the heart…),
- brings the mind back to the body and embodies the living dharma,
- opens to the ultimate dimension – nirvana or God – beyond the notions of birth, death, being, and non-being, just as the manifested wave and the unconditioned water are inseparable.
Each step, each breath, each look thus becomes a love letter to the future: an invitation to touch freedom in the heart of the present moment.
