Living Gems Behind the Scenes
The Living Gems archive captures the evolution of Thich Nhat Hanh’s teachings over the last twenty-five to thirty years, allowing viewers to witness him growing older and introducing new insights and terms. Previously inaccessible recordings are now available not just as whole talks, but split into smaller, searchable portions, making specific topics discoverable within a collection that would take a year to watch day and night.
Material has been collected from friends around the world in various formats, including VHS tapes, camera tapes, audio recordings, and mini discs. The technical workflow involves digitizing, de-noising, de-interlacing, and cleaning up the audio, often using video capture devices to grab the raw magnetic signal and salvage degraded tapes.
This collective effort keeps the Dharma alive, relevant, and accessible as a place of refuge, inspiration, and nourishment for anyone on the planet.
