Loving Speech and Deep Listening Part 01
The details of this talk took place at Tu Nghiem Pagoda, where Thich Nhat Hanh opened a Vietnamese retreat, commemorating the 20th anniversary of Plum Village. He spoke about a retreat for French-speaking people with the theme of Buddhist psychology, attracting more than 150 participants. He announced the 21-day retreat “The Hand of the Buddha” for teachers and long-term practitioners. He emphasized the importance of conveying spiritual values, love, and understanding in every aspect of life. He shared a story of reconciliation between a father and son after a retreat and the power of compassionate eyes. He encouraged the practice of meditation and deep listening to reduce suffering and achieve happiness. He recounted the profound experience of a Catholic journalist during the practice and emphasized living in the present moment to attain peace. He noted the importance of writing practice articles instead of theory and the significance of a shared direction in love.
