Manifestation Only 22
That nature is neither covered nor indeterminate, with five universal mental formations:
- attention
- contact
- feeling
- perception
-
volition
The work of the eighth consciousness is to receive, maintain, and ripen the seeds.
Realms and grounds arise according to the force of karma:
- three realms: the realm of desire, the realm of form, the formless realm
-
nine grounds within the three realms
The two vehicles have not yet understood, so they remain stuck, endlessly debating.
Vast and boundless are the three aspects of the store: - the maintainer (the subject that maintains)
- the stored (all the seeds)
-
the attachment to self in the store (the object of love and attachment to self)
“The deep river, the wind of objects, the surging waves” correspond to the ocean of store consciousness, the objects of perception, and the seven evolving consciousnesses.
Receiving vāsanā, preserving the seeds, maintaining the sense bases, body, and energy; coming before, going after, playing the role of the master.
The eighth ground from here leaves the store; arriving at the vajra path of maturation is vipāka – emptiness.
The great perfect mirror, stainless, manifests simultaneously, illuminating all realms in the ten directions to the very end.
