Dear community, please serve yourselves at the four tables, then eat in silence, maintaining mindfulness for 10 minutes before we begin the cultural program.

The Tet cultural program consists of three main parts:

  • Kitchen Gods: a play reporting on the merits of the Sangha, featuring a series of charming biographies of the monks, lay friends, and volunteers—emphasizing Plum Village’s principles, the practice of the Four Immeasurable Minds, applying the Teacher’s teachings in daily life, refraining from arguments, and building the Sangha everywhere.
  • English performance: a poem – “the day the monks ran out of bread” – telling the story of the Winter Retreat, tea ceremony, watering flowers, washing dishes, and the story of the Vinh Hy bird bringing bread to the monks, demonstrating the spirit of mutual support and the joy in practice.
  • A short cải lương play about filial piety: the Buddha’s previous life as a 12-year-old prince, who willingly offered his flesh to nourish his parents during a 14-day journey of escape, then gave rise to the aspiration to offer the rest of his body for all beings, expressing boundless compassion.
