Practicing the Words of Apology - Prajñā Wisdom
In this Dharma Talk, Thich Nhat Hanh shares that the purpose of practice is to attain wisdom, the ability to untie oneself from delusion and suffering. He emphasizes that wisdom is the light that helps one escape the darkness of delusion. In Buddhism, Prajñā Pāramitā represents the wisdom that leads to the shore of peace, love, and freedom. He distinguishes between analytical wisdom and non-discriminative wisdom, illustrating this with the example of hands caring for each other without discrimination. He encourages looking at others with love and non-discrimination. He emphasizes the interdependence between body parts and between the transmitter and the receiver. He encourages practicing to attain Prajñā wisdom, recognizing mistakes, and sincerely apologizing. He talks about caring for lettuce as an illustration of the responsibility to care for others. He encourages writing inspirational letters and maintaining the tradition of appropriately addressing teachers and mentors. He emphasizes sincerity, the responsibility to convey spiritual values, and proper guidance within the family and the practice community.
