Today is the sixth of August, 2001, and we are in the New Hamlet for our question and answer time.
- Why did you want to become a monk?
- How many hours of meditation do you practice daily, and of that how many are sitting meditation versus walking meditation?
- Are you fully awakened?
- What should we do when other children make fun of us?
- When do our desires become forms of pursuit, and does non-pursuit mean doing nothing?
- How can I feel my mother’s love through her pain and help my father and brothers understand her, forgive her, and let go of their guilt and shame?
- The Dharma says the way is more important than the destination, while analytic psychology teaches that character determines destiny—what is your response?
- How can I help children in my class who are scapegoated and subjected to aggression by their classmates?
- Can it ever be skillful not to speak the truth, for example by telling a child there is a cake in the refrigerator when there isn’t one?
- When I practice mindfulness I sometimes fall asleep or become overly distracted by sights and sounds, and I struggle to coordinate my mind and body—how can I address these challenges, and is mind the same substance as soul or the ancestral spiritual stream?
