The Sangha is gathered at Emei Shan in China. Practice in such a way that the Pure Land can be obtained in the here and the now. Realization of the Pure Land requires more than sitting and chanting; it requires looking deeply into the true nature of things, such as seeing a cloud in a cup of tea or the origins of food, throughout the day. Practice must have essence and substance, not just form, through the cultivation of mindfulness and concentration. Brotherhood and harmony in the Sangha are necessary daily food for a lifelong practice, maintained by sharing difficulties and successes every fortnight. Reconciliation with others should be achieved within the retreat.
