This talk details mental consciousness, its functions, and its influence on karma and daily life. Mental consciousness, the root of actions in body and speech, functions constantly except during deep sleep, concentration states, dreams, and fainting. It collaborates with other consciousnesses during activities like bike riding but can dominate during worry. Concentration practice helps align mental consciousness with senses, connecting with ultimate reality. Recognize three modes of cognition: wholesome, unwholesome, neutral; direct, inference, wrong; and their objects. Store consciousness is neutral and direct, while manas is inference and error. Mental consciousness takes three forms: dispersion, concentration, psychosis. Dreams blend physical sensations into scenarios, and even during coma, communication can reach consciousness. For example, chanting brought peace to a dying person, illustrating the power of familiar seeds planted long ago.
