Sharing About Creating the Plum Village Website (1)
I propose transforming the Plum Village website into an online temple so that both the wider community and our internal sangha can practice together, with several main sections:
- Buddha Hall with recordings of chanting, Touching the Earth practice, recitation of the Five Mindfulness Trainings and the Fourteen Mindfulness Trainings
- Meditation Hall with guidance on sitting meditation, Deep Relaxation, and prostration practice
- Dharma Hall for Thay’s Dharma talks, a listening room for chanting music and meditation songs
- Five Contemplations Hall simulating the mindful eating practice with the Five Contemplations
- Dharma Treasury – an online library of sutras, monastic procedures, and commentaries
- Consultation Hall for answering questions via reader letters or online
- Three Gates Entrance introducing the history, images of the monastery, and a virtual tour of the temple grounds
The main issue is to keep the interface simple and easy to navigate, with three main content groups – practice activities, sutra reference, and consultation – with a fixed update schedule; sharing the work among many people (technical, editorial, publisher) and making use of the Thich Nhat Hanh Library as the central resource. A “tip” when you cannot find something is to use Google with the document name syntax: “The Path of Meditation: langmai.org”.
