The Buddha in Every Cell
In each cell of our being is contained fully the Buddha, our blood ancestors and spiritual ancestors, our teacher, our father and mother… “The one contains the many” from the Avatamsaka Sutra is very true: when needed, we simply call – and the Buddha, teacher, father, and mother are immediately present. Success is not about building big temples or seeking fame and profit, but about freedom and ease in our own heart, without entanglement – that is the greatest happiness. Thanks to our diligent practice, we also liberate many generations of our ancestors and parents.
Each breath, each step is a moment of awakening if we practice dwelling in the present moment:
- Call the name of the Buddha, teacher, or ancestors to touch the inner source of strength.
- Open and close the door, and touch everything with mindfulness.
- Embrace and transform our sorrow and anger instead of running away from them.
Buddhism does not wait for the future: through the three doors of liberation, especially the door of aimlessness (vô tác), happiness is available right here and now. Let us live as a Bodhisattva in daily life – forgiving, being inclusive, and helping those in difficulty in our sangha, so that every gesture and word carries loving-kindness.
