The Four Noble Truths
The details of this discussion highlight the importance of truth, Satya Graha, and its connection with the four noble Buddhist truths: suffering (Dukkha), the cessation of suffering (well-being), and their interconnection. This interconnection is illustrated by the example of the mud needed to grow a lotus, showing that suffering allows us to appreciate well-being. The Buddhist notion of inter-being is fundamental, emphasizing that happiness and pain are linked. Meditation allows us to see this interconnection, and understanding suffering leads to compassion. Cultivating right thoughts, imbued with understanding and love, dispels hatred and anger, thus nourishing oneself and the world. Right speech, imbued with forgiveness and compassion, spreads healing. By recognizing our discriminatory thoughts and hurtful words, we are already experiencing awakening. Using suffering to build well-being, following the Buddhist principle of non-duality, each truth contains all truth. Cultivating right thoughts, speech, and actions leads to happiness and healing today.
