The Fourteen Verses on Meditation Practice
The details of this discussion include the exploration of the Buddhist meaning of samatha, which encompasses stopping, concentration, and relaxation, essential for achieving a state of deep well-being. Buddhist meditation includes shamatha and vipashyana, the latter representing deep looking. Vipashyana can be applied to various objects of meditation such as the body, the mind, pain, or the wonders of life. Mindfulness, practiced through conscious breathing or mindful walking, helps transform suffering and touch life deeply. Recognizing and gently embracing pain allows us to begin healing it. Mindfulness protects our perceptions and sensations, fostering right concentration and conscious consumption. The Buddha taught about the forms of nourishment, emphasizing the importance of protecting our senses from toxic impressions. Practicing mindfulness in daily consumption protects our mind and body, and sharing experiences and wisdom through Dharma discussions and the Five Mindfulness Trainings is essential to protect our loved ones and our society.
