The 90-day (three-month) retreat is happiness in every moment: sitting, walking, listening to the Dharma, eating, washing the dishes, and cleaning the house. It is not a means to attain happiness, it is happiness itself. In each of these simple actions, just “do it” (Chỉ Quán Đả Tọa), in order to be free, to be awake, and to be yourself.

Before entering the retreat, resolve any difficulties between elder and younger brothers within ten days, so that we can enter the three-month retreat in completeness. Follow the principle of “three basic insufficiencies” in the three essential needs:

  1. food
  2. clothing
  3. shelter
keeping them just a little bit insufficient, in order to nourish happiness and mindfulness.
