The Nature of a Cloud
Thầy elaborates on the practice of maintaining our inherent freshness and flower-ness through meditation, offering concrete ways to see ourselves and others as flowers in the garden of humanity. He shares touching reflections on recognizing our parents, teachers, and the Buddha within every cell of our bodies—illustrated by the wisdom of his two hands, where non-discrimination brings total harmony and removes suffering.
Looking deeply into a rose, Thầy demonstrates the nature of interbeing (“This is because that is”) and deconstructs the notions of birth, death, being, and non-being alongside Lavoisier’s law of conservation of matter and energy.
He concludes with a practical exploration of the Three Powers and the Five and Fourteen Mindfulness Trainings, showing how loving speech and compassionate listening restore communication and bring about deep reconciliation.
This is the third talk in a series of five given during the Cultivating Happiness, family retreat in the year 2012. Thầy offered this talk at The University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom.
