Feedback

In this Dharma Talk, Thich Nhat Hanh explains that liberation is not about eliminating or maintaining specific entities, but understanding that everything is a concept. He emphasizes that the self is just a notion and through practice, we can liberate ourselves from this notion. He also explains that liberation transcends both the notions of being and non-being, birth and death. He illustrates that liberation is not escaping from samsara but freeing ourselves from concepts. He also speaks about perceiving the beauty of life by recognizing everything as part of a common essence and warns about the danger of “dual grasping.” He explains that the blue sky and white clouds, grass and sky all share the same nature and that crying and sorrow arise from not recognizing the dual manifestation between subject and object. He concludes that consciousness affects how we view the world and that each person has their own perspective based on their mood and thoughts.
