The Practice of Looking Deeply to Get the Insight to Develop the Four Immeasurable Minds

Thầy highlights the importance of preparing for the twenty-first century, by creating a “breathing room,” in our homes as a refuge, and an organic garden for walking meditation, especially to take care of our suffering. He elaborates on how to take care of our pain by expanding our hearts through the Four immeasurable minds, and the pāramitā of forbearance, kṣāntipāramitā, embracing life’s inevitable truths of death, old age, sickness, and impermanence with a compassionate heart.

This is the first of eighteen talks given during the Summer Opening, in the year 1996. Thầy offered this talk at the Lower Hamlet, Plum Village, France.
