A Breakthrough into the Nature of Reality
This title has been reviewed for accuracy.
This talk starts with a teaching on love. The most precious gift you can offer to someone is your presence, and the first aim of Buddhist meditation is to be truly present. Meditation also means to generate the energies of mindfulness, concentration and insight; insight into the interbeing nature of everything, and the wisdom of no discrimination. It is this insight that can liberate us from our suffering. Thay highlights the interbeing of suffering and happiness. With the practice of the Dharma we can transform the mud of our suffering into the lotus of understanding and compassion. Insight will also lead to Right View, which leads to Right Thinking, Right Speech and Right action, and a beautiful continuation for us into the future. Thay concludes the talk with a concrete sharing of the first eight exercises from the Buddha’s teaching on the Sutra of Full Awareness of Breathing.
This is the second talk in a series of five given during the Body and Mind are One retreat, in the year 2011. Thay offered this talk at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado, United States.
