This talk details embracing the joy of sitting meditation, or zazen, focusing on pleasure in the act itself without striving to be someone else. Walking meditation should also be joyful, cultivating freedom, nourishment, and healing. Sitting, walking, breathing, and eating together can bring happiness and mindfulness. Recognize tension in the body and mind influenced by worries, fears, and confusion. Mindfulness connects us to the miracles of life, embodying concentration and insight. Practice mindfulness, concentration, and insight to embody the Buddha within, experiencing freedom and happiness. Recognize ancestors’ suffering and joy, practicing mindfulness to honor their legacy. Through mindfulness, concentration, and insight, cultivate happiness and compassion, viewing actions as skillful or unskillful. Practice meditation for others, motivated by love, bridging distinctions between Buddhist traditions. Reflect on past actions, noting resolutions for improvement, practicing “beginning anew.” Understand interconnectedness, releasing burdens for true happiness and freedom. Walking meditation unites mindfulness, creating a realm of love, happiness, and freedom in the present.
