Protecting and Serving: Second Talk
This title has been reviewed for accuracy.
Protecting and Serving Without Stress or Fear
Thay begins by describing the pebble meditation that children in Plum Village practice. Each pebble symbolizes a flower, mountain, water, or space, embodying qualities like freshness, solidity, clarity, and spaciousness. He next explains the nature of right thinking and how compassion and understand can transform suffering and nurture harmony in the family and, especially, among incarcerated individuals. He encourages those in law enforcement to regard themselves as a community that can support its members in practicing mindfulness for their own benefit and to reduce the violence in the world.
This is the second talk in a series of four given during the Protecting and Serving Without Stress or Fear retreat in the year 2003. Thay offered this talk at Green Lake, Wisconsin in the United States.
