The Practice of Blooming the Thousand-Petaled Lotus. The Sutra of the Three Doors of Liberation, Part 3
-
The Three Doors of Liberation (三解脫門):
- Śūnyatā – emptiness (空, không)
- Alakṣaṇa – signlessness (無相, vô tướng)
- Apranihita – aimlessness (無作, vô tác)
In the third door, aimlessness means there is nothing you need to do, no goal you need to attain, no object to chase after or project to complete. “There is nothing for you to realize. You are already what you want to become.” You do not need to search for nirvana, because you are already nirvana; just as a wave, seeing itself as water, stops searching for water.
When you see clearly aimlessness, all restlessness and agitation will dissolve, paving the way for
- sudden enlightenment, because awakening can arise in an instant,
- and non-attainment, because there is nothing left to attain.
Returning to the present moment, “just be there,” enjoying the wonders of your own being without needing to run after or accomplish anything more.
