The Essence of a Meaningful Way of Life
Practice beginning a new day with twenty-four brand new hours using the gatha in the book Stepping Into Freedom: “Waking up this morning, I smile. Twenty-four brand new hours are before me. I vow to live fully in each moment. And to look at all beings with eyes of compassion.” In order to live with three things:
- Beauty
- Freedom
- Love
We need to have wisdom, which is insight or Right View. That insight includes the view of neither same nor different, impermanence, no-self, and wisdom of non-discrimination (Nirvikalpa jñāna).
From Right View, we generate:
- Right Thinking
- Right Speech
- Right Action
Every view, thought, word, and action is a person’s offering and continuation in every moment. Continuation and rebirth do not wait until the physical body disintegrates but take place right in the present moment through momentary impermanence and cyclical impermanence. With the eyes of signlessness and the insight of no birth and no death, no coming and no going, neither being nor non-being, a person can live in leisure, freedom, and full of love.
