World Economic Forum (clips)
Awareness of the in-breath and out-breath allows us to know we are alive and touch the Kingdom of God in the here and the now. The fundamental issues of our world are spiritual, not political or economic. In developed countries, despite an abundance of goods to consume, people suffer deeply, while those in developing countries living on very little often experience more laughter, cheerfulness, and brotherhood. True happiness does not come from wealth, power, or high consumption, but from living a simple life with compassion and understanding. When business and political leaders awaken to compassion, they can act as bodhisattvas, using their talents to serve humanity and other species out of genuine compassion rather than forced compliance.
The three key questions for consideration are:
- What is the reaction to the purpose, agenda, and outcomes proposed?
- What are the possibilities of working together with business and political leaders?
- What is needed from this meeting to feel it was a good use of time?
To address these, dialogue must be established across three dimensions:
- The dialogue within religion.
- The dialogue between religions.
- The dialogue with the leaders.
Rather than serving as mere decoration for the forum, spiritual leaders must challenge political and business leaders to provoke a shock and an awakening. The two primary subjects to discuss are:
- How to help business and political leaders to understand themselves and wake up to their real situation.
-
How for businessmen and political leaders to taste the happiness in the here and the now.
True transformation of the human being, rather than social justice or environmental policies alone, is at the base of resolving global suffering.
