May the Road Rise With You

Dear Beloved Community,

On 25th September, our Deer Park Monastery in California held a memorial service to remember and celebrate the life of our dearly beloved Brother Phap De (“Young Brother”), who passed away peacefully on August 4, 2016, at the age of 81.

Brother Phap De had been in ill health for a few months, and passed away surrounded by the love and chanting of his monastic brothers and sisters and close family.

Memories of his beautiful smile and loving presence continue to keep us company. We even hear his voice echoing through our monasteries and hearts saying to us:
May the road rise with you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
May
the rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again
May love hold you in the hollow of her hand
