Thich Nhat Hanh flies to Thailand

As Plum Village enters the fourth week of our three month Winter Retreat, the days are getting shorter, the air fresher, and the energy of peace, stability, harmony, and togetherness deepening day by day.

Elder Dharma Teachers have been offering inspiring talks, exploring the Noble Eightfold Path on the theme “In the Footsteps of Thay.” Thay has been wholehearted in his participation on Days of Mindfulness, joining walking meditation and listening in on the Dharma Talks as his health permits.

One week ago, Thay communicated a clear and determined wish to travel to Thailand. Thai Plum Village, on the edge of the Khao Yai National Park, is the largest practice center in Asia in Thich Nhat Hanh’s tradition, with over 150 monastics disciples.

Although Thay’s wish has not been easy to realize, we are very happy to announce that at midday today, Thay and a small group of attendants took off from Bergerac airport and will arrive in Thailand tomorrow morning, 10th December.

There, they will be greeted by hundreds of monastics and lay practitioners, including many venerable elders from Thailand and Vietnam, who over the last few days have been making the journey by land and air to greet him and pay their respects. We are very happy that Thay is still able to make such a journey, to offer his presence in Asia and be closer to his homeland at this time.

We are profoundly grateful to Thay’s friends who have pledged contributions to enable him to realize his wish. If you would like to participate in this historic journey, and make your own contribution to support Thay, you are warmly welcome to do so, via the Thich Nhat Hanh Foundation ($) or the Plum Village Website (€), with the label: “TNH Thailand 2016”.
