Neuroscience Retreat

A 5-day retreat exploring Thich Nhat Hanh's teachings on consciousness, in dialogue with science

In this retreat with monks, nuns, and scientists in the field of consciousness, we will explore Thich Nhat Hanh’s teachings on “applied” Buddhist psychology in dialogue with neuroscience.

We will explore how to apply the latest neuroscientific research through guided meditations, talks, small sharing groups, and panels with experts in the study of the effects of meditation on the brain and consciousness. In so doing, we will discover how science and Buddhist psychology can help us understand our mind.

In Buddhism, we’re interested in learning about the body. The practice begins with breathing, and when we understand our breath, then we understand our body. And in Buddhism we also try to understand our feelings. And we also try to understand our mind: how it operates, how it works. That’s why psychology in Buddhism is so important. The study of psychology aims at helping you to practice.
