The Soulmate of the Buddha 21 Day Retreat – June 1st – 21st, 2018

We write to share a happiness that next year 2018, Plum Village will be hosting our biennial 21 Day Retreat once again from June 1st to June 21st. It is a retreat focused for experienced Buddhist practitioners, especially from our Order of Interbeing community, but is also open to the general public. The retreat will be conducted in English with respective translations. We will also be transmitting the 14 Mindfulness Trainings of the Order for all qualified international OI aspirants.

Please save the date! Once registration opens, we will arrange for the first month to be open only for members of the Order and then open up for the general public, so keep an eye out for the open-registration date.

Please read the letter of invitation below in English, French or Spanish.

    Dear Plum Village Friends,

I am an Order member but I’d like to come (and share the room) with a friend who is an aspirant. Would you give aspirants priority to book as well, or is only for the full members.

  18. Even though there is no soul, is there soulmate?

Thay said, “Reincarnation means there is a soul that goes out of your body and enters another body. That is a very popular, very wrong notion of continuation in Buddhism. If you think that there is a soul, a self, that inhabits a body, and that goes out when the body disintegrates and takes another form, that is not Buddhism.” (https://www.lionsroar.com/be-beautiful-be-yourself-january-2012/)

    • Thanh Nguyen says:

@Hitoshi Tsuchiyama “Soulmate” used here, it’s just a metaphor.

      • Thank you for your comment. However, this is the core of interbeing, so words must be chosen very carefully. That’s why I have a big question. Is “A REAL SOULMATE OF THE BUDDHA” the direct translation of “Tri KỷCủa Bụt” which was the theme title of the winter retreat in 2012-2013 whenThầy taught in Vietnamese? Even if “Soulmate” is just a metaphor, I feel that the word of “soul” should be avoided.
