Our Challenge
Currently our guests must stay off site, in accommodation several minutes’ walk up the road from the hamlet. The sisters are divided between different buildings.
Our Aspirations
- Stabilize and fortify a resilient and inspiring refuge for residents and guests to heal and transform suffering
- Establish a strong, nurturing base from which we can share with a global audience online, in books, and on teaching tours
- Expand our capacity to host people onsite in the heart of the hamlet so the monastics and guests can be closer together
- Model simple, ecological, and sustainable construction methods with local artisans
Our Immediate Needs
New monastic dormitories for up to 84 sisters, which will free up 60 on-site beds for guests
Modular straw bale, energy-efficient buildings
To build a new, larger meditation hall to host up to 800 people on days when all the hamlets gather together.
With your help, Plum Village will continue to serve as a home for our monastic and lay residents, a training ground for aspirants, a refuge for retreatants, a laboratory for envisioning fresh ways to share the Dharma, and a place of pilgrimage because of Thay’s indelible mark on this special place.
